Watch the Provost's Lecture Recording

Join Provost Don Heller and the Tracy Seeley Center for Teaching Excellence for the 2019 Annual Provost's Lecture in Teaching and Learning with Dr. Sha Xin Wei (Arizona State University). Dr. Sha is Professor and Director of the School of Arts, Media + Engineering and the Synthesis Center for responsive environments and improvisation.

How can we create environments that are richer but not more complicated, and how can we create worlds that we would want to live in? These questions, from the Synthesis Center's website, frame Dr. Sha's work and invite us to cultivate imaginative approaches to knowledge-making and science.

In Cathy Davidson's book The New Education: How To Prepare Students for a World in Flux, the selection for the 2018 CTE Summer Book Club, Dr. Sha describes his approach to teaching and learning as a synthesis. He asks students to call upon multiple strands of expertise in the intersection of disciplines to find solutions to modern, complex problems.

This event is open to all members of the USF community.
