Telling the Story of Your Teaching Workshop 1: Gathering Evidence

Sept. 24, 2018 | 12–12:45 p.m. in UC 504
Sept. 25, 2018 | 3–4 p.m. in UC 402/403

Don’t let end-of-semester student ratings tell the story of what’s happening in your classroom.

Student ratings provide us with important information, but this information can be hard to interpret and hard to translate into specific actions, such as choices about course design or teaching strategies.

This workshop presents strategies for collecting evidence about what’s happening in your courses, so that you can make better decisions about your courses and take charge of the story of your teaching.

We’ll focus on techniques that are practical, easily implemented, and research-based, including tools to generate

  • evidence of student learning and growth
  • evidence of faculty commitment to teaching
  • evidence supporting decisions about future changes to courses or pedagogy
