CTE Brown Bag Conversation "Teaching in the Current Climate"

"This is important: to get to know people, listen, expand the circle of ideas. The world is crisscrossed by roads that come closer together and move apart, but the important thing is that they lead towards the Good." Pope Francis

On Thursday, March 23 from 12-1, the CTE hosted a brown bag conversation with 11 USF faculty members from disciplines across the university. Many of us held class discussions and provided spaces for student reflection about current events. The brown bag became a space for faculty to have lunch and talk about teaching in the current climate, including our responsibilities to our students.

Some questions we asked were:

  • How do we have an impact on student reflection?
  • As leaders, how do we move social justice forward (while thinking of transparency) while allowing students to form their own opinions?
  • What is the line between pushing back and inclusion?
